  • Galloping Grace Youth Ranch info table
  • City of Rio Rancho Water Conservation
  • Water Tap (promoting reusuable bottles rather than buying plastic water bottles every day)
  • Skarsgard Farms (local farmer who delivers organic/local food around the city)

FREE Earth Day Film Screenings at UNM West
An eclectic screening of films all relating to our environment and our world, from many points of view. From the Tuareg people of North Africa to the varied cultures of New Mexico, these films will brighten up Earth Day Week.

Films Include:

On the Land, Together With the Earth--Documentary which focuses on the three primary cultures of Northern New Mexico. Features music by NM Grammy-winning Native American musician Tom Bee and New Mexico Spanish musicians. Directors Cindy and Andy Pickard. (running time 1 hour 12 minutes)

Same Same But Different, Vietnam--Documentary about US combat vets, many from New Mexico, who return to Vietnam to meet their former enemies and help with reconstruction of that war ravaged country. Film makers Moises Gonzalez and Deryle Perryman. (running time approx 40 minutes--exact time to be announced )

Moses on the Mesa--a film about a little known true episode in New Mexico history in which an immigrant European Jewish adventurer became Governor of Laguna Pueblo. Director Paul Ratner. (running time 15 minutes)

Rudolfo Anaya: The Magic of Words--Biographical documentary about New Mexico's beloved author of Bless Me Ultima and many other works. Director David Ethan Ellis. (running time 27 minutes)

Behind the Blue Veil--Documentary about the embattled desert peoples of North Africa, the Tamashek/Tuareg peoples of Azawad whose culture and way life is threatened by climate change, war and violent religious extremism. Features beautiful footage of the Sahara environment.  Director Robyn Simon. (running time 60 minutes)

Battle Stations A Naval Adventure--An experimental slyly comic film starring artist Bruce Conner and focusing on a toxic waste dump and exotic dancing! Director Dominic Angerame. (running time 10 minutes)

Good Luck Mr. Gorski--Award-winning, whimsical comic fantasy about NASA space exploration based on a rumor about the first Moon Landing. Film maker Allegra Huston of Taos, NM. (running time 16 minutes)
